I Want To Know What Love Is

I am thinking about a song from an 80's band, and the words say "I want to know what love is, I want you to show me. I want to feel what love is, I know you can show me."

This song talks about a person who has traveled a lonely rode of life and they reach a point where in desperation they cry out for love. When my daughter and I went to Spain on a mission trip, we did a skit to this song and it spoke to the people a message about love. We didn’t know their language, but music is a universal language and we were able to reach them and share God’s love.

What kind of message are we sending the Human race about love? How much love do we show on a daily basis to the people we encounter.

Jesus talked about the importance of love so much in the Bible; it's a wonder the entire world is not the most loving group you could ever see.  I have met some people in my life who have made me say, "Yes they truly do love like Jesus loved." Others I wondered if I needed to give them the Webster's definition of love so they could start spreading it around in the right way.

I have issued challenges to my kids before and a few of their friends and of course to myself to do this and I am going to do it again this week.

"Write down all of the great things about everyone you know. Complement people wherever you go.  Praise every single thing you see. Be a ray of sunshine to everyone you meet and make their day better for having seen you.  Say "thank you" at every turn. Walk, talk, think and breath appreciation and gratitude."

It was my hope in doing this, they would see the difference in how the world responds to their show of love and kindness.  Now I am issuing the same challenge to you.  Do this for one week and then tell me if you see a change.

If the world wants to know what love is, it's time for the Jesus Followers to show them.
